Although I had been to UK before, in the fall of 2014 I took time off to enjoy a much-needed family vacation in London. With winter not yet there but summer long gone, the weather was pleasant; landscapes were a mix of yellow and bright orange tree leaves, patches of green and flowers in bloom - quintessential England!
We indulged in all the touristy activities - visited the Tower Bridge, Windsor Castle, Big Ben and London Eye, waited patiently for the Change of Guard ceremony at the Buckingham Palace, posed with great personalities at Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum, were mesmerized with the wonders of the sea in the London Aquarium and made a day trip to Greenwich too.
It would be a crime not to mention the mouth-watering English cuisine here. From freshly cooked English breakfast consisting of waffles and baked beans to the aroma of apple pies and fish & chips at cafes across the city, the local flavors will titillate your taste buds like never before!
As I spent good times with family and soaked in the wonders of London, this Irish proverb caught my eye - "Laughter is brightest where food is best"!
